This goofy gal is Florentine! Florentine is around 8 months old and is a Lab mix- likely with something slim and athletic like a Whippet or Pointer. If you're looking for all the fun of a puppy, but in a young dog who is old enough to sleep through the night, is perfectly crate trained, and has enough vaccinations and stamina to safely join you on adventures, Florentine may be your girl! Florentine, affectionately called Lottie in her foster home, LOVES to play. Stuffed toys- especially those that squeak or crinkle- are her favorite, and she will entertain herself for hours pulling out the stuffing and tossing them around like the silly puppy she very much still is. She also enjoys playing with other dogs and would love a dog buddy to roughhouse with and chase around the yard, but would also be happy as a single dog. In her foster home she is playful, active, goofy and sweet, but she is equal parts curious and shy when meeting new people and needs a few minutes before she's ready for snuggles with a new friend. She is very athletic and energetic, and would make a great running/hiking/adventure buddy. If that's not your thing, plenty of playtime and maybe even agility or brain games at home would work too. Daily exercise and mental stimulation is going to be key to her happiness and success in her forever home.

We don’t know what her life was like before she came to us, but it seems that she was not exposed to much in this world so things like stairs, mirrors, and glass doors are all new to her. Her foster mom lives in an urban environment and is working daily to familiarize her with the sights and sounds of a busy neighborhood, and Florentine is making great progress! She quickly learned to sit before getting on or off the elevator, or walking into the house (she's still too excited to go on a walk to remember to sit and wait when the door opens), and has a beautiful "heel" during walks in a quiet area without too many distractions, she's still working on this on the busy sidewalk. Her forever family will need to continue her socialization and exposure to new things so she continues to flourish and further develop her social skills. Still very much a puppy, Florentine is working on leash and house manners in her foster home. She can be mouthy and jumpy during playtime, so while she would likely love to run around with a group of kids, any kids in her forever home will need to be respectful of her space while she's getting to know them and old/big enough to help manage her mouthing and jumping when she's excited. Her foster mom says she's a dream in a crate, curling up to take a nap and sleeping quietly through the night or while you're out of the house. She's very aware of her surroundings and will bark at strange noises outside, so she may not be the best fit for an apartment or condo.
