This big and beautiful boy is Flax! He is truly a transformation. He came to Labs and More severely underweight, missing fur and in desperate need of medical care. He has spent the last couple of months in a foster home and look at him now! He's healthy, happy and ready for a forever home! Flax is about 5 years old and we think he's a Shepherd mix with possibly Akita. True to his breed mix, he is very smart, playful and has a lot of energy. He makes for a great adventure buddy as he loves car rides, exploring trails and playing in the water. Flax will need an active family that can work out his mind and body every day. He has learned his basic commands and walks well on leash with a strong handler. He is looking for a family experienced in handling a big dog with a big personality as sometimes he tries to push his boundaries and demand walks and playtime. He occasionally needs reminders of who wears the pants in the dog-human relationship! He is eager to learn and very food motivated. Sometimes he doesn't realize his own size and gets a little over excited at playtime so he would do best in a home with no children at this time. He is friendly with new people and new dogs on walks. While he gets along well with dogs, he does best with large dogs that can handle his size and rough playstyle. He can be a little overwhelming to smaller dogs and thinks all kitties should be chased so needs a home with no cats. He isn't always fond of sharing treats and toys so those need to be given separately from other dogs. Flax is affectionate and loves to be pet, and he would prefer a home where his humans are home more often than not. Flax is a super sweet boy with a lot of personality!
