Sweet mama Arkansas is around 2 years old and looks to be a Lab and Shepherd mix. She was rescued with her 10 puppies from a farm that had too many dogs and couldn't properly care for her and her pups. Now she is ready to put parenthood behind her in favor of a home of her own. She is a little shy at first so she's looking for a kind and patient family that will continue working on her socialization and build her confidence. She is doing wonderfully in her foster home where she has conquered the stairs, started to play with toys and now enjoys snoozing on the couch. She’s even house trained! Like most young dogs, if she doesn’t get her zoomies out and has some pent-up energy, she starts making her own chew toys, so it’s important that she has an active family or a yard to expel her energy. She absolutely loves going on walks and hikes.

Arkansas is still working on "outside" things like not freezing up when she sees unfamiliar people or dogs on her walks. She recently had a breakthrough and awkwardly played with a pup much smaller than her, bouncing around and trying to be a dog! She doesn’t need a doggy sibling to be happy but having one would be fine too. On walks, Arkansas likes to collect treasures to bring home and play with, like sticks and pinecones. It doesn't take much to entertain this girl! She’s doing much better in the car, though she does tend to get car sick after a while. Arkansas needs a mellow household with an owner who understands shy dogs and is willing to put in the extra energy and training to help her blossom into the best dog that she can be. She isn’t ready for a family with children, unless they’re older and contribute to a calm household. Once Arkansas bonds with you, she’s an absolute love bug (and she thinks she’s a lap dog!). If you think you are ready to add to your family by adopting Arkansas, then fill out an adoption application on our website today! We recommend completing the application process and connecting with a adoption coach before looking for a dog or puppy you'd like to adopt. If you're already approved to adopt or if you've adopted from Labs and More before, connect with your adoption coach for the next steps.

Your interest in adopting a rescued dog or puppy from Labs and More Rescue is appreciated! Please find our adoption information at www.labsandmore.org. Your adoption donation provides funding for Labs and More, a nonprofit organization which is supported solely by Volunteers and funded by donations. Good news is your adoption donation can be considered tax deductible. So much care is provided to your new dog prior to the adoption, including: spay and neuter, microchip, veterinarian visit(s), vaccinations, and other medical care as needed. Many of the dogs we rescue require extensive surgeries and care prior to adoption. Please understand we are unable to predict future behavior or medical needs of your adopted dog. We provide no guarantees regarding behavior, breed, or age of the dogs. Thank you for rescuing.
